Craft: The art of appling Henna originated from India. Henna is regarded as having “Barakah”, blessings, and was applied for luck as well as joy and beauty. Mum and the two big girls each had a hand decorated at a Hari Raya celebration, in Malaysia.

Craft: Emperor Qin Shi Huang had thousands of terracotta army-men fashioned, no two of them alike, not their facial expressions or even the tread on their shoes the same. He hoped they would serve him forever, after his death, and when he died the thousands of terracotta warriors were buried alongside him!!!

World Craft: bows

Location: Orkhon, Mongolia

Craft: You could interpret “bows” as something you tie a ribbon into…or maybe you might ‘take a bow’ but this particular bow is a “re-curve bow”. The man who makes these keeps the family business alive after three generations.

World Craft: fans

Location: Fuli, China

Craft: China is known for many inventions and while it was the Japanese that invented the fan the Chinese are also known for fans. If you look closely you can see the fans being made…aren’t they HUGE!

Location: Phnom Pehn, Cambodia

Craft: These shadow puppets are made of leather. As the people move the puppets across the sheet, in front of a big bonfire, a group of people with drums, and something that looked looks like a xylophone, produce music that creates an atmosphere to helps tell the story.
